Not many people know that Kingsville is not only home to one of the largest ranches in the world, but it is also situated on the beautiful south Texas coast.
Everything about Kingsville is wonderful...especially the people. We were based there right after our marriage when my husband was a flight student at NAS Kingsville. I met so many wonderful people in Kingsville and other young wives on the base. We visit often to stir the memories. What a place! The King Ranch was, and still is, a special place to visit, though it was more open then....in 1971.
Dear Anonymous: We are so sorry you feel that way about our community. Perhaps you did not visit one of our musueums like the award winning King Ranch Museum, or take a tour on one of the largest ranches in the world - King Ranch - or visit the recently restored 1904 Train Depot (free). Did you take time to visit the Conner Museum (free) on the A&M campus? Or did you check out what was going on at Jones Auditorium or the "Little Theater"? Yes, our historic downtown is struggling but a trip to the King Ranch Saddle Shop - even if you don't shop -is a real experiece. How 'bout eating lunch and topping it off with an ice cream cone at the old-fashioned soda fountain in Harrel's Drugs? Did you find time to visit any of our shops or restaurants downtown? Are you aware that the Kingsville area has one of the highest bird counts in the United States - to say nothing about wildlife watching?...sooooo relaxing. Birders come from around the world just to visit Kingsville to view the birds. Did you check out the events calendar to see what was happening while you were here? Our night life falls short and we don't have a huge variety of restaurants, but what we have are very good and our theater runs the latest movies. A&M also shows movies and offers a long list of activities that the general public can enjoy either free or a very low ticket fee. For those that spend time playing video games - we have many places that offer that. If you were here for an extended period, I'm sure you are the type of person that got involved in the community by volunteering for one of many opportunities available here. Our volunteers are the busiest people in town and complain constantly that they don't have enough hours in the day. We fall short in shopping but we do have a small mall and several shopping strips that sell most of what we need and the small shops downtown are great for gift and home decor' items. Did you attend one of the many sports activities at A&M or at Kleberg Park or have time to visit Baffin Bay? One does not need to be a fisherman to enjoy the pier (free) down there. I have no doubt that you found time to visit at least one of the two free art galleries here in Kingsville. My guess would be that you were just so busy while here, you did not have enough time to slow down and enjoy our community. Perhaps if you come back, you will find time to enjoy the friendly people here and to visit a few of our attractions.

Doesn't everybody know that Baffin Bay is the speckled trout capitol of the world?

Tourists/visitors love it. You are obviously not a tourist.
Think positive. Live will be more fun.
